An Introduction to Menkes and Wilson Diseases

Adkison, LR. 2012

This animated video provides an introduction to the development of Menkes and Wilson diseases. Both are caused by defects in copper utilization. In Menkes, copper is trapped in the enterocyte and cannot enter the blood stream. In Wilson disease, copper is trapped in the hepatocyte and cannot be excreted. Additional information is available in Adkison, LR. 2012. Elsevier’s Integrated Review: Genetics, pp. 181-191.-
